Its probably about time we reviewed a book on the Buro North blog.
I bought ‘Flatland’ in a secondhand bookshop, on the basis that it claimed to be “A Romance of Many Dimensions”. Described as a ‘Mathematical satire’ the book gives the account of a series of visions by a 2 dimensional being “A. Square”, as he travels between various dimensions including nondimensional ‘Pointland’, one dimensional ‘Lineland’ and our own three dimensional ‘Spaceland’. Click here for more
We spent yesterday afternoon down at Barleycorn Brewery preparing our ‘09 BN Christmas presents. It was a fascinating process to learn and be involved in, and hopefully (we did our best to follow the recipes) both our super dry crisp, and dark malty organic preservative (and hangover) free brews will come up a treat in a month, ready to be sent out to our friends, clients and collaborators in time for Christmas……
Buro North’s Wayfinding Director Finn Butler took off to the UK last month to get married to the lucky Tina Rainbow in a stunning outdoor abbey in Wales. Congratulations guys…
We are officially in construction mode….. A whole host of our recent projects are being fabricated, printed, manufactured and installed all at the same time currently. Projects such as the Falls Creek signage, MYER docklands graphics, ACMI signage and a host of print projects all coming to fruition at once - Exciting times.!. Below is the prototype ‘i’ for the new ACMI sign for Flinders Street, checking illumination levels last week.
Fantastic to see the casting process first hand last week for the Falls Creek wayfinding signage we designed over the last year or so… Being manufactured by Schiavello, the alloy modular components were being cast at Mullholland Foundry who showed us the incredible craft behind casting… Lots of process images here…
